One Day Introduction to Ecoprinting with Kim McCormack

This workshop will introduce participants to ecoprinting onto paper and wool and silk fabrics.
Ecoprinting which is sometimes known as Botanical printing is a method which entails gathering specific types of leaves which are laid directly onto paper or fabric to gain an imprint from the reactions of the tannins in the leaves.
Participants will be given individual packs containing what is required for the day. I will bring a large amount of the right kinds of foliage for printing with and will provide a list of plants which work well with this process so that participants can bring their own gathered foliage if they would like to.
We will begin in the morning with a talk and a demonstration and some initial sampling with paper. We will then move on to working with fabric and the rolling of ‘bundles’. We will have a lunch break from 1-2pm and then will move on to creating our own bundles and fixing the imprints. The workshop will end at 4pm. Participants will leave with paper samples, fabric samples and a printed wool scarf measuring 170cm x 25 cm. Participants will also take away extensive notes on continuing the process successfully at home and of course will be able to contact me for support and advice post workshop.

No previous experience necessary.
One hour Lunch break. Bring packed lunch with you , or make use of the various cafes/ shops in Ullapool. Tea and coffee will be available.
