A day’s course inspired by An Talla Solais’s exhibition of botanical art*. Led by artist Jana Emburey, participants will work through several watercolour techniques and approaches and have time to experiment.
You will be drawing from real plants and flowers and you are very welcome to bring your choice of plants to the studio to work from. You will start by visiting the work on show in the Gallery to gather inspiration, and will then head to the studio to make small studies and one larger piece.
Some materials will be available but you are recommended to bring brushes that you like working with, your own watercolour paints, masking fluid, and watercolour paper. Please let us know if you can’t bring materials.
The workshop is aimed at those with some watercolour experience who would like to take their painting to the next level. However beginners are also welcome: if unsure, please ask!
Fee: £70 per person (£63 for ATS Members). Places are limited so booking is essential: please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The workshop will take place in the studios at An Talla Solais, Market Street (next to the Village Hall), Ullapool IV26 2XE.
*Proceeds from this workshop will help us cover the costs of bringing the RSA’s botanical collection to Ullapool. Your support is very much appreciated!
