September 12 - 18 October 2015
An exhibition travelling by post and featuring artists from busy European working ports with work by:
Joanne B Kaar, Marian Leven, Ian Stephen and Charlotte Watters
Carlos Botana, Xacobe Meléndrez Fassbender, Inma Doval Porto and Isabel Pintado
Jenny Elliot and Andrea Sinclair, WM Hudson MBRS, Nam Tran and Elle Salt
An exhibition featuring artists from three European working ports and delivered by post.
PortAble brings together artists from the north west Highlands and Islands, London and A Coruña in Spain who have all produced work exploring the docks, waterways and trade that connect the three busy working ports.
The art works all arrived at the Caledonian Hotel gallery by post from Spain having previously spent time aboard a floating barge gallery in London. Each of the 12 artists – four from each location – have made paintings, photographs, prints and installations that pack into a 2m x 2m box and are posted from one gallery to the next.
An Talla Solais is holding a series of artist events to coincide with the exhibition. Storyteller Ian Stephen joined Ullapool's Serve Our Seniors group this week to muse on tales of travel while painter Marian Leven will give a free talk on September 19th at the ATS studios on Market Street, Ullapool, about her work and artistic journey.
